Making Space Summer School 2016!
Now that the half term has flown by and we’re back to school, we thought we’d share with you all our next lot of children’s activities for our annual Making Space Summer School Workshops!
This year we have such a variety of workshops with professional artists and makers that you and and your child can pick and choose from. As well as having the opportunity to sign up for the whole week if you wish to, you will also have the chance to gain a “Discover” arts award!
In case you’re unfamiliar with arts award, it is a highly recognised and valued award that you can build on from Discover and Explore all the way through to Bronze, Silver and Gold which can count towards points to University!
Our summer school begins on Monday 8th August this year and runs through to Friday 12th where we will be exhibiting all of the work produced!
To give you a breakdown on how our summer school runs, there tends to be two workshops per day. The morning sessions run from 10am-12noon and the afternoon sessions start at 1pm-3pm. If your child is interested in staying for the whole day, there will be a one hour lunch break for us all to eat, chill out and get ready to begin the next exciting workshop!
So, let’s give you the run down of all the workshops!!
On Monday morning , you have the chance to create Gilded Frames with one of our Studio Tenants Richard Walker!
On monday afternoon, you can learn how to create thrown ceramics as well as glazed tiles with another one of our studio tenants Peter Levy!
On Tuesday, we have the lovely weaver Alice Hume working with us to show us how to make a weave from mini frames as well as weaving sticks!
On Wednesday we have the brilliant Maxwell Hyde teaching us how to make wooden Minecraft figures in the morning and painted wooden door signs in the afternoon!
When it gets to Thursday, Kate Bishop from Kroma will be teaching us how to create Ombre dip-dyed bags as well as screen printed posters!
Then, on Friday, the wonderful Ami Lowman will be creating Batik T-shirts with us in the morning ready for our end of week exhibition in the afternoon!!
Now doesn’t that sound like fun?!
