Following on from a popular 2hr taster in March, Richard is back again delivering a 3-Day masterclass with us covering a much broader understanding of gilding.
Those attending will produce a selection of oil gilded items, of their discretion, in gold, silver and copper leaf.
The course will take a brief look at all the water gilding processes, including making and applying gesso, bole and the gilding process. Burnishing and antiquing skills will also be covered.
Students will look at glass gilding and the different ways to achieve effects upon the surface of the glass.
For the large project, students will produce a water gilded frame in 23.5 karat gold-leaf. The glass insert will be a gilded ‘Verre Eglomise’ style mirror in 12 karat white gold.
If a student wishes to work on a different item, or something personal, this will also be possible. However, prior discussion with the tutor would be needed to plan accordingly.
As well as overall class tuition, individual tuition and guidance will be given by the tutor, ensuring that all participants receive adequate personal guidance to sharpen their skills.
Course Dates: Thursday, Friday & Saturday 6, 7 & 8 July 2017. 10am-3pm each day
