A 4-Week Course – From Information to Design | with Kathryn Green
A unique course which will guide you through various design processes from start to finish. The course is suitable for those with an existing interest or ability who want to learn how to develop inspiration and information to a design idea.
Week 1. Translating images: Using inspiration, analyse, break down, look at colour, shape, texture, tone, form and start to draw from image considering these formal elements. Give examples.
Week 2. Different ways of drawing and accessing creativity: Line drawing, negative shapes, tonal, 20 minute detail, 5 minute sponaneous, viewfinder & draw again, masking tape (draw with, around, over), continuous line, left handed drawing.
Week 3. Collage: From drawings
Week 4. Design and Pattern: Use viewfinder and enlarge/reduce drawings. Draw sections in isolation looking at shapes or textures. Repeat images to create patterns.
By the end of the course participants will have gained confidence in how to use inspiration and develop ideas into art and design. They will not have a final piece, but will have produced a body of work that could contribute to a portfolio.
