Reach Out is a series of workshops for children and young people with additional needs who cannot access mainstream activities.
This listing is for our 2-Part Film Workshop with Paul Gonella from Strong Island Media. The workshop takes part over 2 consecutive days and participants must attend both parts. The Saturday is classed as a family workshop so parents / buddies are welcome to join the fun and help the young people.
Friday 27 October 2017 |1pm-3pm
During this session Paul will work with the young people and they will cover the basics of making a film. They will discuss different roles, how to use the equipment and also come up with a script, assign characters and talk about props and costumes. This session will prepare the participants for the practical part of the workshop which will take place the following day. This session will take place at Making Space, 2 Bishopstoke Road, Leigh Park, Havant, Hants, PO9 5BN
Saturday 28 October 2017 | 10am-2pm
Saturday will be the creative part of the workshop and we will be filming on location at Staunton Country Park, (The Leigh Park Gardens side). Participants should all meet at 10am by the entrance to the park by the road (Staunton Country Park, Middle Park Way, Havant, PO9 5HB) and then we can begin making the film where the participants will do all the work in front of and behind the camera. The length of the session allows for 2 short breaks and one longer lunch break. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to stay all day and bring a picnic to enjoy during breaks.
*Because the second session will be outside please bring wet weather clothing and consider appropriate footwear.
*After the session Paul will edit together the footage and will complete the film. All participants will be emailed a link to view the final cut of the film online This will take about a week or so depending on the amount of work needed.
*Over the last 4 Reach Out Sessions participants have created items which can all be bought along to both sessions to use in the film. These include Wooden Tiki Masks, Dyed Flags and T-Shirts, Shields and Gilded skulls. These props will inspire the genre and direction of the film.
