Following on from Peter’s Ceramic Vessel taster session in April, this 4-week evening course concentrates on an exploration of stoneware glazes.
The course will begin with initial construction of test tiles and simple pieces from high-quality stoneware clay. Participants will then learn how to mix commercially available glazes with raw materials to make bespoke glazes. Test firings will then be done to see results then participants can begin applying these to finished work, assessing form and aesthetic along the way.
Each student will be encouraged to work to their own ability setting out specific goals within the framework of the course.
Students will have 18kg of clay and 900ml of glaze to experiment with over the course of the 4 weeks. Extra can be brought via the tutor or brought from home.
Course Dates: Thursdays 1, 8, 15, 22 June 2017 7-9pm
*Please note work will need to be collected from Making Space after course completion (usually around 2-3 weeks from end of course)
