Making Space seeks to appoint new Trustees, including the positions of Chair & Treasurer
Making Space creates opportunities for people to enjoy and take part in high quality craft; expanding understanding of what craft is, does and can be.
From its purpose-built studios in Leigh Park, Making Space organises courses, masterclasses and projects through which participants learn from skilled and experienced makers.
There are seven small studios, which are let to professional artists and makers seeking to develop their practice and businesses.
The charity is active in its local community, working with partners to deliver first-time and ongoing experiences of design and craft. Making Space is nationally networked and an energetic advocate of craft, arguing the case for investment, good practice and the cultural, educational and economic importance of craft.
If you have a passion for the arts and believe you can make a creative and strategic contribution to the board of this small charity, Making Space are keen to hear from you.
Trustees serve in a voluntary capacity but with the satisfaction of supporting a distinctive and highly regarded creative agency. Commitment includes attending four board meetings a year, the AGM and taking part in group tasks on time-limited developments, such as fundraising, policy and artistic development. Trustees are also expected to visit some projects and events to keep abreast of the operational work of Making Space and to meet staff, artists, and other participants.
Making Space is seeking individuals with experience and leadership within the public, private or charity sectors. Skills in the arts, financial management, fundraising, marketing, human resources, IT/digital sector would all be of particular interest.
