Afternoon everyone…
I’m back again with another creative activity to get you all inspired at home… For today’s activity suggestion I’ve taken inspiration from Easter and have come up with a simple activity you can all have a go at to create some lovely Easter cards & decor… but of course you can use it for other celebrations / reasons too!
What you’ll need:
We’ve included links to all the materials needed in case you don’t have it at home and need to purchase it. Please note – by making a purchase through the links below, Making Space will receive a small commission, so you will be helping raise funds us as well!
*Masking tape & Double-sided Tape
Activity:
So… for this activity we’ll be creating beautifully patterned paper to then create into things (cards and decor etc)… Using a technique similar to batik we use wax (from a candle) to act as a resist to the paint.
To start get some plain water colour paper… ‘draw’ using the candle patterns on the paper… You can then wash over the top of the paper using water colour to create a beautifully coloured design.
Create a few different designs and then let them dry. Once dry you can cut out egg shapes using a template and then get creative with them… decorate cards or make garlands, add to easter bonnets… it’s totally up to you!
As always… don’t forget that if you have a go please share your creations with us via email (to outreach@makingspace.org) or tag us in a social media post
