The Making Space Associate Makers Scheme (A.M.S.) supports the development of craft and design practice and enterprise. It offers a unique opportunity for professional designer-makers at all levels of experience to become more involved with Making Space, to collaborate with others, gain specialist advice and take part in bespoke opportunities, such as talks, exhibitions and projects. The A.M.S. is a free but selected process. Once selected each maker is given a profile on the Making Space website.
Studio Spaces
Making Space offers 7 individual studio spaces for emerging designer-makers and artists who are ready to take the next step towards becoming professionals and growing their practice. Tenants gain:
• Access to mentoring and creative business advice.
• Support from being part of a thriving and productive studio group.
• A professional environment where spaces are in use 24/7, inclusive of heating, lighting, water and wifi.

Maker Networking Lunches
Supporting the development and sharing of ideas, projects and good practice these bi-monthly meetings are open to designer- makers at all stages of their careers. Respected designer-makers have given talks about their work and/or given short technical demonstrations before breaking for a shared lunch. Specialist Talks and “in conversation” events
With a focus on developing craft practice, Making Space invites experts to share knowledge, approaches and concepts such as established makers, gallery curators and other industry professionals who can advise on a range of focused subjects. Exhibition Opportunities
Under the Making Space banner, designer-makers have been selected to show as a collective at the following spaces: Winchester Discovery Centre Gallery, Aspex Gallery, New Ashgate Gallery and at Making Space. Making Space will continue to raise the profile of high quality craft, reaching a wider audience.
Maker Newsletters
A free E-newsletter with up to date news on opportunities and events at Making Space, from exhibitions, studio vacancies and career talks. We also share news about regional / national craft opportunities. If you’d like to receive our Makers E-Newsletter please click here and check the ‘makers’ box.
Room and Equipment Hire
Our education space are available for hire for classes and meetings. Equipment and tools can also be loaned. Please click here to find out more.
