Making Space has just the antidote to the colder weather and shorter days with a series of cosy craft workshops perfect for the winter months.
As we stash our summer wardrobe for another year our thoughts turn to scarves and wraps, and if the high street isn’t tempting you, why not create your own with the Havant craft charity’s resident textile artist Kathryn Green?
Kathryn is currently exhibiting at Handmade Chelsea – a craft fair showcasing the best makers in the country, and on her return she is running a day-long course on printed textiles on 24th November. You can explore a variety of techniques to design your own unique scarf, or a length of material to complete at home. With all materials included and the chance to learn from a skilled professional, this workshop is great value at £76.50.
On the same day, you can try your hand at the resurgent craft of crochet. This hooking technique can create beautifully intricate designs and is enjoying something of a renaissance at the moment. Melanie McDowell will be leading a taster session perfect for absolute beginners from 10am until 12noon. All materials are included, and places cost £41.
If you are looking to bring some individuality to your festive stationery this year, you can create your own collection of printed cards, wrapping paper and decorations in Mary Dalton’s two-day festive printmaking course. On Thursday 22nd and 29th, professional print artist Mary will help you delve into a range of print techniques to create beautiful Christmas papercraft. Once again, all materials are included and this two-day workshop costs £150.
You can secure a space on any of these workshops with just a deposit, so visit makingspace.org or call the Box Office on 023 9247 2491 to make your booking.
