As you may be aware, Making Space have partnered with Aspex Gallery for this year’s Craft Emergency Applications; seeking emerging talent working within craft to submit their work to the gallery for the chance to be accepted for an exhibition within their craft space, solo show as well as a fee of £1000. (For more details on craft emergency, please visit our previous blog post here!)
So, for this week’s blog post, I thought I’d shine some light on one of the previous Craft Emergency Winner’s who currently has a solo show at the Gallery called “‘Waldeinsamkeit’
I have already visited the show a few times already as the work is so mesmerising. On my very first visit, I was going through a period as an artist where I needed to be re-fuelled with inspiration and ideas for my own work and let’s just say, this particular exhibition did just that! Waldeinsamkeit created by Malene Hurtmann Rasmussen is an exhibition which showcases a variety of skills from ceramics through to surface design.
The exhibition itself is about being “alone in the woods’ in a positive and magical sense, with the ability to walk around the 3d installation and feel like you’re in a day dream. The work and colour scheme reflects a very whimsical, relaxed woodland environment and can bring out the imagination of any age.
It’s definitely worth a visit! I’ve already blogged about this exhibition once before, but here are a few new photographs to showcase what this beautiful work is all about as well as the results of winning Craft Emergency!
If you are keen to apply for CRAFT EMERGENCY please download this application form and note that the deadline for submissions is Sunday 10 July 2016.
