Reach Out October Half Term 2023

Reach Out is a series of SEN craft workshops for children and young people with additional needs who cannot access mainstream activities.
Monday 23 October 2023
10-12noon | Exploring metal work with Jessica Marie
Get creative in our jewellery studio, experiment with texturing, stamping and rolling aluminium and copper shapes to make personalised designs.
1-3pm | Wire work and beading with Jessica Marie
Add to your creations made in the morning to make finished wearable / functional pieces or explore the possibilities of making mini wire and bead sculptures.
Thursday 26 October 2023
10-12noon | Kurinuki Pumpkins with Kelly Ottesen
Simply put, kurinuki is a Japanese term referring to the hand building technique of starting with a solid block of clay and hollowing it out (just like you would carve a pumpkin!)
1-3pm | Skull marble runs with Kelly Ottesen
Inspired by the shape of a skull, design and create your own ceramic marble run!
Reach Out workshops are exclusively for Hampshire young people who have a Gateway Card+. All existing previous Gateway Card holders need to have applied for a new one in order to come to these sessions. If you’d like to apply for a new Gateway card please click here to find out more about how to apply.
Participants may stay all day. Alternatively you may select either the morning session (10am-12noon) or afternoon session (1pm-3pm). Participants will be limited to just 6 people per session.
- These sessions are designed for the young person to attend on their own, giving the parent a short break. Parents are welcome to stay if they child prefers it. Parents are not intended to come in and do the workshop as well.
- The cost for the full day is £25, alternatively the cost for a 2hr Session is £12.50 – This includes all materials.
- There are 6 places per workshop only so please book early to avoid disappointment. Places will be sold on a first come first served basis, with payment securing your place.
In order to support your child during these workshops we do require some additional information which you have the opportunity to provide at the time of booking. Alternatively please call / email Making Space on 023 9247 2491 / admin@makingspace.org. If you are a newcomer, a project partner, Jo Halsall will be in touch to discuss your child’s needs.
