This year, as you most likely have seen through our busy Facebook and Twitter pages, we are curating a Student Showcase for local talented makers to exhibit their work professionally. Made By Hands is based around the theme ‘Craft’, ensuring that the show will be filled with diverse pieces of artwork created by young artists.
Joining in with our annual Open Studios event, Made By Hands will have a private view on the 13th May 2016 and be open to the public 14th and 15th May 2016.
This submission is exclusive to Foundation Art & Design Diploma, BTEC and A Level students in the local area only.
As the leading craft organisation in Hampshire, Made By Hands will be a selected exhibition, which involves all types of mediums inclusive of both 3d and 2d work. To apply to show your work within this amazing exhibition, the work submitted has to loosely fit the term ‘Craft.’ (This does not necessarily mean the medium used or technique.)
If you can justify the link towards craft in your application, the medium from Graphic design, Fine Art and Woodwork to Illustration, textiles and ceramics will all be considered.
Made By Hands is an exhibition full of opportunities with local galleries and professional artists attending the open weekend as well as the private view. Alongside the chance to showcase your work professionally, you will also have the opportunity to sell any work that is displayed.
The application process is straightforward with a few questions about yourself and your artwork alongside an attachment of any high quality JPEG images. From these images a panel of trustees, professional artists and team members will select which work will be hung within the exhibition.
If selected, we will then ask for the work to be delivered to Making Space in time for the private view!
Applying is completely free and we will try to accommodate as many pieces as possible.
If you would like to be a part of this unique opportunity, whether you’re preparing for university or would like to take a step towards being within the professional creative sector, this exhibition could be the perfect chance to gain experience and showcase your work to the art & craft community.
