As most of you probably already know, Making Space’s annual Open Studios event is around the corner!
Tying in as usual with the May Day Arts Trail in Havant, this event will be held over the weekend of the 14th and 15th May 2016. We are also hosting a private view for our curated exhibition Made By Hands, on 13th May 2016.
This year, Making Space is exhibiting a showcase of local talent including our participants outstanding creations and amazing community projects which have happened since Open Studios 2015.
Made By Hands is a selected showcase for talented BTEC, A Level and Foundation Diploma students studying in the surrounding areas. We are curating the exhibition with the help of a panel of professional artists, showcasing as many fantastic pieces of craft as we can facilitate. As the lead community craft organisation in Hampshire, Making Space is inviting local talented students to submit work to this professional exhibition, that they feel fits the theme of ‘Craft’.
If anyone is interested in submitting work for Made By Hands you can …
Download an application form by clicking here or email us for more information.
Alongside this unique opportunity, Making Space will also be exhibiting Inspired, a show made up of participants of our creative classes over the last year which includes Ceramics, Jewellery, Fused Glass and Sewing.
We will also be exhibiting the work made within the very successful community project Make Do and Mend, which we ran at the end of 2015.
If you’d like to get involved with Open Studios and lend a helping hand, we are calling out for volunteers to help the weekend go smoothly. If you think this is something you’d be interested in doing, you can download an application pack here and look over the job role ‘Event Steward’.
