As our biggest event of the year is now under a month away I wanted to share with you some more information as our annual Open Studios weekend is packed full of exciting things.
Alongside our fantastic tenants opening up their studios over the weekend, showing you their creative spaces, we will have one of our associate makers setting up site to show you her beautiful textile pieces. Kathryn Green has become one of Making Space’s semi-tenants, as she hires our ceramic studio to develop and produce her work on a weekly basis. Alice Hume and Alex Hoare will also either be here or have a display showcasing themselves as associate makers and promoting upcoming courses at Making Space.
Throughout the weekend, we will be holding various exhibitions which celebrate the classes and community work we offer.
Inspired, is an exhibition that is curated every year by the Making Space staff, to celebrate the participants of our very popular creative classes. We will also be displaying tutors work alongside their students! With new classes being programmed in every term, it would be great to have some feedback on which you would like to be programmed in next. New sewing, ceramics and glass courses are all on offer now for our Summer Term of creative classes!
We will also be exhibiting the fantastic work we created in partnership with D-Day Museum in Portsmouth for the ‘Make Do and Mend’ project. Both the Gosport & Havant projects will be on show throughout the weekend to showcase one of the most successful community projects that Making Space have ran over the last year.
The 14th & 15th May will be packed full of exciting things to see and do!
We hope you can make our Open Studios event, to see the development of our tenants over the last year, as well as the engagement & community work that Making Space has successfully co-ordinated.
