I had the real privilege of being able to sit in on a conversation with the amazing Kenyan born Magdalene Odundo this week as part of my MA course at UCA Farnham.
A rare treat to be able to hear her talk about her life and work. She’s one of Britain’s leading ceramicists but more recently has chosen to explore glass and was at UCA to launch her amazing installation ’TRANSITION II’ in the James Hockey Gallery.
Originally inspired by water and the flow of the Nile, the piece is huge, beautiful and very moving. 1,000 individually made glass vessels hang from the ceiling in a wave with spotlights casting beautiful shadow patterns on the floor and walls. The exhibition is open to the public so definitely worth a visit !
