Making Ground is an Arts Council funded collaborative interdisciplinary project exploring site-specific making at a disused brickworks in Sussex.
– Carry out a pilot project through research and collaboration
– Produce a series of collaborative works
– Investigate how a continuing collaborative journey emerges
– Involve other artists/specialists to enrich the collaborative process
This research and development project is focusing on a sense of place, changing seasons, and how being closer to the source of their materials, and working together can affect their making. Elaine and Annmarie are investigating how a collaborative journey emerges and explore how involving other artists can enrich the collaborative process.
You can find out all about the project by visiting the Making Ground website, and keep up-to-date by reading their blog.
To celebrate this inspiring project we’d like to invite you to join Lynne Dick for a special ‘in conversation event’ at Making Space on Saturday 18 March from 1.30pm.
This special event will be a unique insight into the fascinating idea of collaborative working. Elaine and Annemarie will talk about the project in terms of concept, challenges, materials and place and share recent work.
If you’re keen to find out more in advance of the event at Making Space, or would like to see Annemarie & Elaine’s work in person then you’re in luck. The duo will be at Fabrica, Brighton’s centre for contemporary art, in the next few days. Their residency runs from 6th – 10th Feb. There is an Artists’ Talk on 9 February from 6 – 8pm (The talk is free but tickets, you can book your place on here) The Gallery will then be open to the public 12 – 5pm on Friday 10 February and you can find out more by clicking here.
After the event at Making Space Annemarie and Elaine will also be taking Making Ground to The Studio Fusion Gallery in London from the 25 March – 11 June 2017.
