2020 Open Studios
We were busy preparing for our annual May Open Studios when lockdown was enforced. Following government guidance Making Space temporarily closed up shop until safe to reopen. This of course affected many of our programmed workshops, project and events including our annual Open Studio event.
We had planned a brilliant weekend of high quality craft and were so disappointed that for the first time in our 13 years we won’t be opening our doors to you, so we got our thinking caps on and got inspired.
Whilst you may not be able to visit us this coming weekend we hope that you will instead join us for our first ever Virtual Open Studios.
What does that mean?
Many of you will be asking, how does that work… what will you be doing?! As you can’t come to us, we want to bring our Tenants and Associate Makers to you instead! Using Social media on Saturday 16 May from 11am-4pm we invite you to join us throughout the day for Virtual Open Studios.
We will be taking it in turn to shine the spotlight on our various current Studio Tenants and some of our Associate Makers. We will be introducing them, telling you a little about them…. sharing links to their websites and social media pages. We will be sharing news from them, what they’ve been up to during lockdown. We’ll share images of their recent work (which you can buy) Some will share studio tours, tell you about their latest collection, explain what inspires their work… All in all… it will be a brilliant inspiring day where you can discover and support your local craft scene!
Most of the activity will be happening on Instagram, as this is the most visual platform, but information will also be available on Facebook and Twitter.
We hope you can join us at some point throughout the day and would love your support by means of likes, comments and engagements with posts. Follow the makers we’re shouting out as now more then ever, they need your support. If you like what you see consider buying or commissioning some work from our makers, if you can’t do that, share the stories to your own timelines / feeds as the more people we reach the better!
If you have any questions, or are one of our associates who would like to get involved please email us, but we hope to see lots of you on Saturday 16 May from 11am-4pm!
