The Making Space Prize Draw 2023!

We’re excited to launch the first ever Making Space Prize Draw.

The prize is fantastic: a place on a full day Kintsugi workshop with our resident maker and internationally renowned Master Gilder Richard Walker!

Richard is one of the world’s foremost gilders, practising and teaching the ancient art of applying precious metals to other objects. As well as students travelling from all over the world to visit his workshop at Making Space, he also teaches across the UK and overseas.

Always innovating, Richard has invented a new gilding tool and is currently writing a book on the artform, which until recently was listed as an endangered craft.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing ceramics with gold. Rather than attempting to hide cracks and imperfections, using gold on the joins makes a feature of these ‘scars’ and creates a unique, beautiful renewed piece of pottery which can serve for many more years rather than being thrown into landfill.

By purchasing a £10 prize draw ticket, you will have the chance to win a place on a full day Kintsugi course, run by Richard and taking place on 17th November. These workshops usually cost around £150, so this is a fantastic opportunity!

Tickets are no longer on sale for this draw.

The draw will be held at Making Space on 2nd October 2023.
