Making Space is seeking new Trustees, including a Treasurer
If you have a passion for the arts, can make a creative and strategic contribution to the board of this small charity, Making Space Trustees are keen to hear from you.
Making Space creates opportunities for people to enjoy and take part in high quality craft; expanding understanding of what craft is, does and can be. From its purpose-built studios in Leigh Park, Making Space organises courses, master classes and outreach projects through which participants learn from skilled and experienced makers. There are 7 studios on site leased to emerging professional artists and makers seeking to develop their practice and businesses. Making Space is nationally networked and an energetic advocate of craft, arguing the case for investment, good practice and the cultural, educational and economic importance of craft. Trustees champion the work of Making Space and serve in a voluntary capacity and with the satisfaction of supporting a distinctive, highly-regarded creative agency. Commitment includes attending at least 4 board meetings a year, the AGM and taking part in sub-committees on time-limited developments, such as fundraising, policy and artistic development. Trustees keep abreast of the work by attending projects and events, meeting staff artists, project partners and participants. Trustees keep an overview of the organisation’s core objectives and priorities to ensure viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
Making Space is seeking articulate individuals with experience and leadership within the public, private or charity sectors. Skills in the arts, financial management, fundraising, and marketing, would all be of particular interest.
