In October 2013, Making Space organised a charity fundraiser exhibition entitled ‘4X6’. The event centered on the sale of original, postcard-sized artworks, in order to raise money for the organisation. It was a huge success, with over 100 artists from around the world donating unique 4”x6” pieces, in a variety of craft and art disciplines, from fused glass postcards to machine embroidered works.
Contributing artists were asked to respond to the theme: ‘Draw Tomorrow’. They were encouraged to create individual responses that aligned to their personal practice.
4×6 provided a fantastic opportunity for emerging talent to have their work exhibited alongside more established artists and makers. The identity of the artist of each piece was kept secret until a purchase was made, encouraging visitors to buy what they liked, as opposed to only opting for the better-known artists whose work was ‘worth more’.
Original pieces were sold off at a set price of £20 each.
All unsold artworks are still available to buy at the discounted price of £10 each or 3 for £25.
