Another entry from our blog series called Studio Stories where we hand our blog over to our lovely tenants giving them the platform to share their news and events. You can see all our current tenants online here.
For this Studio Stories we’re handing over to Kathryn Green, our resident textile artist in studio 17.
Kathryn Green graduated in 2007, with a First Class Honours degree in Fashion and Textiles. Since then she has been working as a freelance textile designer and lecturer in Further Education. Her life and work experiences are diverse, each one contributing to her development and personal understanding, which she draws on for her textiles, as she states, “I am my experiences.”
Kathryn has been busy recently working on a series of scarves as part of her new ‘Patagonia Collection’. A section of beautiful scarves which represent the landscapes, textures and colours of a country Kathryn loves and visits often. Kathryn will be launching the collection this weekend at Handmade Chelsea.
Handmade Chelsea is a 3 day Contemporary Craft and Design fair taking place at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London from Friday 9th November to Sunday 11th November, opening 11am to 6pm Friday & Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
The event is organised by Handmade in Britain and will feature some of the highest quality design and craft in the country ranging from ceramics to jewellery, glass and textiles. You can see all of the exhibitors by clicking here.
The show has been running for 11 years, and The Chelsea Old Town Hall will be transformed into the ultimate shopping destination for the weekend, with more than 100 highly skilled designer-makers and galleries showcasing their innovative and contemporary designs. Visitors have the opportunity to buy one-off pieces directly from artists, makers and craftspeople and learn about the ideas and processes that shape their work.
You can book a ticket, and take advantage of special advance ticket prices by clicking here.
For more information please contact Kathryn or visit the Handmade in Britain website and we hope this event will be a huge success for her.
