Activity:
So… this is a quick, fun activity that will challenge you to step outside your usual illustration style and instead embrace continuous line drawing. This is where you don’t take the tip of your pen off the paper until you’ve finished! You will get some creative and unusual lines which you wouldn’t normally see / do.
Start by laying a scrap piece of paper down, put your template on top, then a clean page on top of that! Now, select your colour… I used the duel tipped pens mentioned above and these are about the thickness of a normal felt tip, This activity would also work great with fine-liners though… you’d get a much more precise sketch then a fatter felt tip allows. The idea is to just start designing, you can’t stop and just have to go with it, going back over lines or adding in new ones. Have fun with it, experiment with different shapes and styles. For mine I used a different shade of blue for each of the different designs!
Once the clothes are finished you can then add in the model using a black illustration/outliner pen…
There are countless options and outcomes and that’s part of the fun, mix up colours, materials, scale… Keep playing about and see what you come up with! And finally, don’t forget to share your creations with us afterwards!
