Like I mentioned last week there are hundreds of different jobs related to the fashion industry and one of those jobs is styling… A stylist’s job is to put together things that look good and you get these in all industries, but a fashion Stylists job is all about putting together garments to create a ‘look’ that ‘looks’ amazing! Sounds fund right?!
This challenge lets you play the stylist… You need to start by choose a wardrobe staple, and by this I mean something everyone has in their wardrobe… Choose from the following or pick your own!
*Black Leggings *Plain White Tee *Jeans *Little Black Dress *Blazer/Jacket *Simple Skirt
Once you’ve chose the garment you’re going to style it’s time to finish the look… Grab an old fashion magazine and rip out anything that you think would compliment and work with your wardrobe staple… try and mix it up so you have a casual look and a more ‘dressy up’ look… Your job as a stylist is to show the customer their options and combinations they might not think of. So with that in mind, don’t play it safe… have fun with the clothes and accessories you team with it!
Once you’ve got enough for a few options use your paper scissors to cut them out.
Now you can use a template under a piece of plain white paper to start combining your looks with a mixture of drawn parts and collage… Watch the video to see how I do this.
Draw in your wardrobe staple and any body parts that need to be there, then stick down your collaged garments on top / around.
Try and get at least 3 options to a page!
Once you’ve had a go doing one wardrobe staple then you can try another! Have fun with it and don’t forget we want to see what you come up with so please share your results with us!
These videos have been specially produced by Making Space and are available for you to use and share completely free. However, if you would like to support us and ensure that Making Space can continue to provide quality craft activities for all in the future, please consider making a donation.
