
Craft Club is a brand new monthly creative club for young people aged 7-14, where participants can make friends, learn new craft skills and enjoy creating!!
As part of the Let’s Create Leigh Park project funded by The Arts Council, Craft Club will become part of our programmed offer over the next 18 months!
So, if you are, or know a creative young person that you think would enjoy Craft Club, please sign up. Spaces are limited to 10 per session and at only £5 each (£3 for Leigh Park residents) we expect these sessions to sell out quicky!
Craft Club takes place at Making Space on the first Monday of every month from 4-5.30pm!
CRAFT CLUB DATES:
2023 Dates:
June 5 – Weaving with fabric strips on weaving looms, and adding twig hangers and tassels and pom-poms
July 3 – Making books – fabric and paper covers, binding pages with waxed thread. Adding beads and tassels.
August 7 – Making fabric flower corsage brooches and hat decorations. Use different sizes fabric squares, layer up and sew through with buttons and beads. Stick on brooch
bar. Mini-make: peg doll figures
August 21 – Hampshire Open Studio Taster Session – 10.30-12.00 – Potato circle printing onto canvas boards. Mini-make: print onto felt bookmarks
September 4 – Make tiny wooden houses. Use pre-cut blocks to paint, add lolly stick doors and nail in chimneys, draw on windows. Glue-gun onto wooden tiles / cork mats
Mini-make: make a tree, seagull etc to add to your scene
October 2 – Fake cake – Make a tea party out of cardboard. Mini-make: design a teapot.
November 6 – Batik – Make a calico panel with wax batik design and inks like fireworks
Mini-make: wax crayon and black scratched through firework designs.
December 4 – Paper garlands – Cut paper circles, machine-stitched to make garlands
Mini-make: beadwork Christmas stars – beads threaded onto wire, then twisted into stars. Hang with ribbon.
