Making Space are thrilled to be launching another inspiring project designed to nurture the next generation of designers and Makers. Creative Futures will launch later this year and will run for 2 years.

Funded by The Ragdoll Foundation, Creative Futures will offer those involved a creative experience far above what’s on offer at school or college, there will be opportunities to explore their creativity, learn new skills and build an inspirational portfolio to aid them in their creative future plans!

The project is designed for young women aged 14-18 and over the course of a year participants will get to take part in 4 mini creative projects which will take place on Saturdays between January – August 2023 (so not to interfere with school / college) The projects will focus on: Fashion Design & Pattern Cutting, Jewellery Design & Silversmithing, Millinery Design & Construction and Textile Design (Dyeing, Print & Embroidery).

The project will also involve an inspirational trip, a final exhibition as part of 2023 Open Studios, support in building an online professional presecene, careers guidance and a photoshoot to capture all their work.

If you are, or know a young woman who might be interested please register your interest using the form below.

All interested parties must apply to the project as places are limited to 10, but don’t let this stage scare you, we will accept applications via email, voicenotes, social media posts or even via a testimonial from your teacher or tutor.

We will be hosting a Taster Day in October Half Term where those interested can meet the professional makers, see what might be on offer, chat to the team and meet other prospective attendees and get help with applying.

Creative Futures Taster Day | Thursday 27 October | 1-3pm

The whole project is completely free for those signed up due to the generous funding from The Ragdoll Foundation and we will be repeating the project again in 2024 so if you’re too young this time, you can apply to join next year! If you have any questions about the project please email Ami on
