Craft Club – craft classes for kids 7-14

If you are looking for affordable, quality craft classes for kids, join us for Craft Club: a brand new 18-month project funded by Arts Council England providing fun and inspiring creative activities for children aged 7-14.
The sessions will take place on the first Monday of each month from June 2023 through to September 2024. Try a different creative activity each month and help shape and influence the sessions as the project progresses.
Sessions cost just £5 each but if you are a Leigh Park resident then you can come along for only £3 a session.

What can you do?
January 8
Make a Mosaic Tile. Using mosaic pieces learn about tesserae, how to transfer a design onto the tile and create your very own mosaic tile. Mini-make – make a paper mosaic design for a card or maybe a name label.
February 5
Cross-stitch a Valentine’s heart for a lavender bag, just in time for Valentine’s Day! Choose your combination of beautiful embroidery threads and fill your bag with lavender.
March 4
Make a clay egg-cup and decorate with flowers, chicks or even the Easter Bunny! Easter cards are a good mini-make for this time of year.
April 8
Time for some bubbly painting! Using bubbles we will create some colourful papers and make beautiful butterfly mobiles.
May 6
Make a bird in a nest this week. Using clay, make a bird and some eggs and create a fluffy, twiggy, colourful, or even sparkly nest!
June 3
Have a go at Hapa-zome! Hapa Zome is an ancient Japanese art form, based on leaf printing. Create beautiful artwork, inspired by symmetry in nature and make your own calico bag or pencil case.
July 1
Clay tiles and hanging decorations this week. Forage for interesting patterns and materials to press into clay for your design. Using underglaze we will decorate with colours ready to fire, and collect next time. Mini-make a hedgehog to take home.
August 5
Secret Gardens in a box! Using collage create your very own secret garden complete with garden gates, or a secret door!
August 17 11.30- 1.00pm
A bonus session for Hampshire Open Studios! Making miniature masterpieces with Fimo. Easy to shape and easy to dry. Make your own set of figures, sculptures, jewellery and decorative items.
September 2
We are making a Craft Club Portrait Gallery this week – using pencils, pens, pastels and charcoal, draw your own self-portrait and decorate a frame for your artwork.
