Learn applique, decorative, and functional stitching techniques to bring new life to old textiles.
Your creations will be donated to warm hubs in Havant to keep folk cosy this winter.
Please join us for these enjoyable and valuable workshops that are generously subsidised by Waste Prevention Fund from Hampshire County Council.
The course will run over three days:
Winter accessories: 11 – 13 August
For this project you will transform tired knitwear and jersey, odds and ends of yarn, into hats, scarves, wrist warmers and fingerless mitts. Learn crochet, knitting, pom pom making and decorative edging.
Friday 11th August 7-9pm
Saturday 12th August 10-12pm
Sunday 13th August 10-12pm
Coats All Done Up: 15 – 17 September
We will be transforming worn out coats by learning and using a variety of creative techniques such as patching, darning, trimming, applique functional and decorative embroidery. All done up fresh for this winter.
Friday 15th September 7-9pm
Saturday 16th September 10-12pm
Sunday 17th September 10-12pm
Warm Hands Warm Home: 6 – 8 October
Transform bedding and cotton fabric (shirts, table cloths, dresses and napkins) into draft excluders and hand warmers to keep the winter chill away. Come and learn fabric colouring, yoyo’s/Suffolk puffs and Kantha stitching.
Friday 6th October 7-9pm
Saturday 7th October 10-12pm
Sunday 8th October 10-12pm
Each 3-session course will cost just £10
All material will be donated by the community. If you are able, please bring and donate any appropriate textiles, we would be very grateful. While we will provide all equipment, we have a limited number of sewing machines, so if you have your own machine, please do bring it with you.
